In a statement released late last night, a spokesperson from Lucasfilm has announced that Gina Carano is no longer employed by them. Gina Carano starred as former Republic shock trooper Cara Dune in Lucasfilm’s The Mandalorian.
She has featured in several episodes of the Disney+ show as an associate of the titular character, played by Pedro Pascal.
This is a result of a series of events. Sources have said a termination of employment has been long coming, as Carano has had a long history of posting insulting and controversial content on her social channels.
Last year in September, The actress stepped in hot water for changing her Twitter bio to ‘boop/bop/beep’, a poor reference to members of the LGBTQ+ community who chose to outline their preferred pronouns in their bios. She went on to change her bio later after a conversation with co-star Pedro Pascal, citing that it was a joke in poor taste and that she has learned.
Yesterday she went through another wave of controversial posts, this time anti-semitic in nature. This was seen as a last straw.
Carano is no longer in the plans for future Mandalorian seasons, as well as being virtually written off from the upcoming Rangers of the New Republic series on Disney+, which supposedly was going to feature her Cara Dune character in a leading role.
Also, as a result, she has been dropped by United Talent Agency, who no longer carry her as a client.
